This was always going to be a big ask for a less experienced Winscombe team but everyone played with good skill & commitment

Inspite of the sunshine, torrential rain, hail & thunder & lightening in the space of a freaky 15 mins Winscombe remained in contention for the majority of the match.

Weston took an early 2-0 lead but Winscombe soon replied; with some lovely attacking play up the right with defender Kat Dee releasing the ball to Ellen Campbell who finding Ella Hutchinson on the wing made a penetrating run into the D to slot home an excellent goal from an almost impossible angle.

Winscombe held the score at 2-1 well into the 2nd half with some excellent saves by goalie Lily Reeves. There was good defending & attacking from Maisie Holland, Ruby Cahill, Lauren Tyrrell & Abbie Bewley with Gill Harvey putting in a Captain's performance protecting the backs of Sophie Manning, Jasmine Rooke & Amy Cheeseborough who all played well. Harvey also supported centre-midfielder Gail Izzard when Winscombe pushed forward to win several penalty corners & shots on goal.

Inspite of this Weston's pressure paid off & they put the match out of Winscombe's reach in a very good 15 mins at the end of the second half with 3 cleverly-worked & well taken goals.

Player of the match was Gail Izzard
