Second half comeback secures 4ths win over Bridgwater

Coming off the back of 2 straight league wins the 4ths knew this was going to prove a tougher challenge.

And so it proved to be. After taking an early lead with an Ellen Campbell goal who after a run on the left hand side of the pitch and from a seemingly impossible angle took a reverse stick shot which found the far corner of the net, Winscombe conceded 2 in quick succession.

Just before halftime Winscombe got themselves back in the game when Ella Hutchinson found space down the left, completed a text book 1-2 with Abbie Bewly & finished beautifully from the top of the D.

The home team started the second half very strongly, adding a third goal when Hutchinson found Maisie Holland who took a shot towards far left corner of the goal - midfielder Erin Crofts met the ball sweetly to divert it into the net.

Lottie Guntet ran down right hand side of the pitch and undercut the ball yo send it flying through the air & into the goal to give Winscombe the lead.

A 5th & final goal by Abbie Bewly was hit so hard it deflected off a defender's stuck to rocket into the roof of the net.

Bridgwater would not give up & pulled another goal back to make a very tense last 15 minutes. Defenders Kat Dee, Caroline Glassop, Soohie Manning & Jasmine Rooke worked tirelessly to prevent any attacks & shots on goal - Lily Reeves in goal responded well when called upon to make some crucial saves.

Final score was 5-4 which saw Winscombe top the table after the first 3 matches of the season.

Player of the match was Ellen Campbell
